Tanzania Safari Itinerary (Day-by-Day Guide)

Day 1: Tarangire National Park

Depart from Arusha after breakfast and begin your journey toward Tarangire National Park, passing through the scenic Maasai steppe and charming local landscapes. Upon arrival at the park entrance, your guide will handle all entry formalities while you prepare for an exciting day in the wild.Once inside the park, your game drive begins immediately. With your experienced safari guide leading the way, you’ll explore Tarangire’s most wildlife-rich areas including the famous Tarangire River.

This permanent water source attracts large numbers of animals throughout the year, offering excellent opportunities to spot elephants, zebras, lions, giraffes, antelopes, and a wide variety of bird species.You’ll stop for lunch at a designated picnic site before continuing your game drive through the park’s breathtaking baobab-filled landscapes. Later in the afternoon, you will exit the park and continue toward the lush Ngorongoro Highlands. Your day ends in Karatu, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your selected lodge or campsite.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, your 2-day Tanzania safari continues with a visit to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater. You will begin with a drive to the park gate for registration, then proceed up to the crater rim. Here, you’ll stop at the famous viewpoint to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and capture stunning photos before descending the 600 meters to the crater floor for an unforgettable wildlife experience.

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places in Africa to see a high density of wildlife in a short time. It is home to numerous predators, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and jackals. Bird lovers will also enjoy sightings of flamingos on Lake Magadi, as well as pelicans, ibises, ostriches, geese, and many other species. A packed lunch will be served at a designated picnic spot inside the crater.

In the late afternoon, you will ascend from the crater and begin your drive back to Arusha, where your safari concludes.
